Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso (full name Xabier Alonso Olano), born the 25 of November of 1981 in Spain, in a town called Tolosa. Xabi Alonso is a Spanish midfielder now playing for the british team of Liverpool F.C. His jersey is the number 14 with Liverpool.

He is best known for his great goals from very long distances, like the one against the Luton Town team in the FA Cup on January 2006. Another famous goal was against Newcastle the 20 September 2006. There is no doubt of his talent and great future too.

Xabi Alonso comes from a well known family within the football world. His brother Mikel plays in Real Sociedad as a midfielder, and the other brother, Jon, is a referee. Xabi´s father ‘Periko’ was great and famous player for the Real Sociedad and the FC Barcelona.

 

Xabi Alonso Career

The debut of this amazing player was with Real Sociedad at the 1999 – 2000 season against Logroñes. In the 2000 – 2001 season Xabi Alonso was in a loan at the SD Eibar team. After that Xabi returned to the first team of Real Sociedad.

Now he is doing an spectacular career in England, playing for Liverpool and scoring his famous long range goals.

He was selected to play in the Spanish national team in April 2003. In fact the first goal of the Spanish squad in the 2006 World Cup was scored by him against Ukraine the 14 June. It was also his first goal at an international Cup.
